So, if you have a Firestick at hand and are unsure how to pair it with your television, you’re in luck.

Pairing your remote — 5 easy steps

We’ll walk through the five simple steps to pairing your Firestick remote at home so you can get your gadget up and running right away!

Here’s what to do:

  1. Turn your TV on and make sure it’s on the correct HDMI input.

  2. Plug your Firestick device into the TV.

  3. Put batteries in the remote and stay close to your TV for Bluetooth connection. 

  4. Press and hold the home button on your remote for about at least 20 seconds. A light should begin to appear to flicker at the top.

  5. This will set your Firestick to Discovery Mode and the pairing will be complete.

How to reset a Firestick remote

Having problems with your current remote or connection? Resetting the Firestick remote entirely is your best option.

And this is how you do it:

  1. Unplug your Fire TV device. Keep it off for at least 60 seconds.

  2. Press and hold the Left, Menu and Back buttons simultaneously for at least 12 seconds. 

  3. Release and then wait another five seconds.  

  4. Take out the batteries from the remote.

  5. Plug and turn your Fire TV back on and wait for it to reboot.

  6. Once it’s rebooted, put the batteries back in the remote.

  7. Press the Home button.

  8. Once the LED indicator begins blinking blue, your device is successfully paired.

Using your phone as a remote

Here’s how you do it:

  1. Download the Amazon Fire TV app on your phone.

  2. Make sure your phone is connected to WiFi with Bluetooth on.

  3. Accept the permissions for the app.

  4. Connect the app with your Firestick TV.

  5. Click on ‘Set up a new device’.

  6. Select Fire TV or add a new device. Then enter your login information.

  7. Enter a PIN to use your cell phone as a remote.
